Permission for an anime poster
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Dear editors! I expanded the Hungarian article about hu:Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale, which is now a good article. The only problem is that it doesn't contain any picture, because we cannot use any non-free imagine without permission. I tried to ask permission from Anime Limited and Aniplex, but I didn't get any answer, probably because I cannot reach the right person. Therefore, I'd like to ask help from someone, who would help me to ask permission for the film's poster in Japanese; I would be very grateful. Just in case, please ping me if you answer. Best regards, Bencemac(会話) 2018年2月21日 (水) 18:40 (UTC)

@Veracious: We are using the logo already. :) The main problem is that if you take a look, you can see the article is long (which is great), however doesn't contain any illustration except that. Bencemac(会話) 2018年4月12日 (木) 14:51 (UTC)
- @Bencemac: Haha, yeah, i missed the logo, sorry. Can you just upload it "locally"? Like, at here? Because in Indonesian Wikipedia, we just upload it right away (without using WikiCommons). スヰート (ぽい〜) 2018年4月12日 (木) 15:10 (UTC)
- We have to ask permission for every non-free imagine (fair use doesn't applicable on huWiki) and Commons is not suitable in this case, because we wouldn't get permission under free licence. In summary, I cannot use any copyrighted picture without permission. Bencemac(会話) 2018年4月12日 (木) 15:29 (UTC)

- Getting back to @Bencemac: - How did you ask for permission? Like at Aniplex's contact page? Anime Limited does not seem to be the copyright owner so most probably will not work.--ネイ(会話) 2018年4月14日 (土) 04:27 (UTC)
The film's and the offical SAO site doesn't have any e-mail address, so first I asked help from the offical Facebook site. After that, I wrote to Aniplex and Anime Limited (UK distribution); I haven't gotten any answer. In Aniplex's case, I used the previously linked contact page. Regards, Bencemac(会話) 2018年4月14日 (土) 12:22 (UTC)
- OK, in that case we might need to file a request in Japanese. Do you have some details on the permission needed for non-free images in huwiki? It is obvious that they will not grant a permission under free license, but we at least want to know what should be the license we ask for.--ネイ(会話) 2018年4月15日 (日) 11:54 (UTC)
- Their answer should contain a statement about that they give us permission for using the picture(s) on the article/Hungarian Wikipedia. In summary, we need a short written permit, which contains „we give you a permit“, „you can use“ or something similar. We would use Jogvédett license, which contains the following English warning: „This image is copyrighted and used here with permission. For the purposes of Wikipedia, this is a non-free licence. You should not copy the file without getting a permission for yourself.“ Thanks your help! Regards, Bencemac(会話) 2018年4月16日 (月) 08:20 (UTC)

Japanese articles needing translation to English for 420 (Cannabis/Marijuana) collaboration for April?
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
It's April again, and for the "420 Holiday" WikiProject Cannabis is inviting editors to help expand our coverage of cannabis. We have several articles in Japanese that we lack in English Wikipedia. I'd invite anyone bilingual here to help translate even just the lead of these articles to English so we can expand our coverage of cannabis in Japan.
Meanwhile, if anyone wants to translate any of our many cannabis articles into Japanese, please see en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Cannabis/Popular pages for what are our most popular pages in English, and you can check to see if any of them are lacking in Japanese. If you do any work for the collaboration, please feel free to let us know about your achievement at en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Cannabis/420 Collaboration. May people help me brainstorm a symbol for Asia?
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Hi all, I am currently planning to reconstructing a logo for the Wikipedia:ウィキペディア・アジア月間. However, given that Asia is such a big continent, I don't quite know what is the best cultural symbol for Asia. I am thinking about picking an artifact that is representative for at least one asian culture... like a lantern, a cup of tea, silk, etc. So, what do you think is the most representative thing for Asia? By the way there can be multiple things in one logo, so feel free to provide as many cultural symbols as possible.
If we want to treat every culture fairly, then we cannot avoid putting in a lot of symbols, and that will not look good. What about we simply use the shape of Asia continent?--ネイ(会話) 2018年5月19日 (土) 13:27 (UTC)
- 「アジア」って「非ヨーロッパ」って概念で、「アジアを統一代表する1つのシンボル」みたいなものは無い、としか言いようがないでしょう。思いつかなくて当然です。逆に言えば、ありとあらゆるものが入り乱れてるのがアジア、って感じなので、ごちゃごちゃしているとアジアっぽいかなあとも思います。--柒月例祭(会話) 2018年5月19日 (土) 13:46 (UTC)
- ありがとうございます。英語訳を試みます。
- 柒月例祭-san mentioned that, "Asia" is a "non-Europe" concept. It is obvious that one can never think of "a symbol that represents the whole Asia". To put it in another way, everything being jumbled up is the essence of Asia, so having a "jumbled up" logo would feel more like Asia.--ネイ(会話) 2018年5月20日 (日) 03:09 (UTC)
- @燃灯: The Song Wu-kong character was selected due to the year of the monkey, maybe something to do with dog? What about en:komainu or tanuki (en:raccoon dog). The tanuki seem to be native to parts of Korea, China, even Vietnam. In Japan there is a fairy tale about the raccoon dog that transforms into en:chagama or tea kettle (and you can connect it with tea or tea ceremony from China). The Shukaku one-tail beast in en:Naruto is a reference to this, Shukaku being the name of the priest.
- 「アジア」って「非ヨーロッパ」って概念で、「アジアを統一代表する1つのシンボル」みたいなものは無い、としか言いようがないでしょう。思いつかなくて当然です。逆に言えば、ありとあらゆるものが入り乱れてるのがアジア、って感じなので、ごちゃごちゃしているとアジアっぽいかなあとも思います。--柒月例祭(会話) 2018年5月19日 (土) 13:46 (UTC)
- Or what about en:Enma-dai-o, who is depicted like an affable Santa Claus in en:Hōzuki no Reitetsu
- Or en:goldfish. Maybe you can cleverly draw one that looks like the map of Asia. --Kiyoweap(会話) 2018年5月20日 (日) 00:58 (UTC)
- How about rice and Bactrian camel? Rice is very popular food in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. Bactrian camel is a pack animal in Central Asia. It was used in Silk Road, the ancient network crossing Asia.--SilverSpeech(会話) 2018年5月20日 (日) 04:57 (UTC)
Portuguese hymn
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Hi all,
I see that the WP:ja page about Portugal's hymn A Portuguesa is entitled ア・ポルトゥゲーザ. However, A Portuguesa is pronounced [ɐ puɾtuˈɣezɐ] in Portuguese, so why isn't it transcribed as ア・プルトゥゲーザ, with a プ instead of a ポ? Thank you in advance for your answer. Best regards, SenseiAC(会話) 2018年5月14日 (月) 01:17 (UTC)
According to the talk page of the article, this song has many Japanese-translated titles, such as "ア・ポルトゥゲーザ", "ポルトゲーザ", "ポルトガルの歌" (the song of Portugal), etc, but no title use "プ" instead of "ポ". The translated-title "ア・ポルトゥゲーザ" has reliable sources, and the reliable sources are more important for the article titles than the accuracy of pronounciation. In addition, it is difficult for Japanese language to transcribe Europian languages' pronunciation, and Japanese pronunciation "ウ" and "オ" aren't corresponded with "u" and "o" completely. "ア・ポルトゥゲーザ" is easy for us to understand that it relates to Poutugal.--SilverSpeech(会話) 2018年5月14日 (月) 05:08 (UTC)
@SenseiAC: Asian people tend to spell "o" as "o" (almost no change), unlike European / American people that spells "o" as either "o" (port, board, own) or "u" (two, too, soon) or even "a" (how, now, wow). スヰート (ぽい〜) 2018年9月14日 (金) 03:58 (UTC)

Question about katakana for American place names
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
I’ve been reviewing several articles about my home state in the US, and have come upon some inconsistencies. I’ve been using other Wikipedia Japan articles and Google Maps transcriptions as a guide. Should American spelling take priority over pronunciation? For example, the city of en:Vienna, South Dakota would normally be ヴィエンナ, but it is pronounced in South Dakota as ヴァイエンナ. en:Minnewauken, North Dakota is shown on here as ミニューオーカーン, but is pronounced ミネワォーカン similar to ミネアポリス (Minneapolis). Any advice on this subject would be appreciated.dcmacnut(会話) 2018年5月28日 (月) 01:00 (UTC)
返信 (dcmacnut宛) In jawp, Japanese common spelling often take priority over local pronunciation, but local spelling never. Some editors use local spellings when they don't know local pronunciations. In such cases, please show references of local pronunciation at the talk page to correct spellings. You can correct such spellings except for those commonly used in Japanese. --SilverSpeech(会話) 2018年5月28日 (月) 03:49 (UTC)
ありがとう. Fortunately, most of the areas in question don’t have standalone articles (yet). Would a YouTube video be acceptable as a source on the talk page? There are several for the strangest towns.dcmacnut(会話) 2018年5月28日 (月) 18:06 (UTC)
返信 (dcmacnut宛) Generally, YouTube video is not reliable source enough to edit an article, but you can use it to explain why you want to edit. If you don't have more reliable sources, such as English dictionaries, please use Template:訳語疑問点 or Template:訳語疑問点範囲. We use these templates when we find a sentence or words that may be translated incorrectly. Please explain at the edit summary or the talk page why you use these templates.--SilverSpeech(会話) 2018年6月5日 (火) 07:10 (UTC)

Chūnibyō
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
In the English Wikipedia, Chūnibyō (中二病) currently redirects to Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions (中二病でも恋がしたい!). At the top of the redirect target, there's a hatnote that direct readers to go to Glossary of anime and manga for the actual definition of 中二病, but there's not a single definition about it, actually.
I'm going to find any suitable source about Chūnibyō so I can at least put a short definition, but I definitely need your assistance. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 2018年6月27日 (水) 13:08 (UTC)
Can you help us on a research project about translations?
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Hello!
I am Trizek and I work for the Wikimedia Foundation.
I'm helping the Research team find people who can help them. This team is working on an algorithm to help with translation. And we are desperately looking for translators from Japanese to Arabic, English, Spanish, French and Russian to complete the work.
We have created a small tool that looks like a game: https://gapfinder-tools.wmflabs.org/section-alignment. After choosing two languages, translators are able to type possible translations of the displayed section title. Multiple translations can be submitted. Those translations will feed an algorithm that would help more people to translate and create articles.
We know it is a lot of work to translate, and we hope anyone can help us, even with a few submissions. Can you help us by making translations, or share this tool with other users who could help us?
Thank you very much in advance for your help! Trizek (WMF)(会話) 2018年7月6日 (金) 12:32 (UTC)

Good Day キエフ Kiev - this is the Russian occupational nickname of the Ukrainian city. It was created by the Russians during the Russian Empire. Then the Russians turned the military alliance of 1654 into the occupation and destruction of Ukrainians as a people. Please stop using the Russian occupation nickname kIEV. The Russians infected this map with the world map. Ukraine became an independent state and freed from Russian and Russian-Soviet occupation.Real name Kyiv It's time for the Japanese language to use real Ukrainian names. Ukraine is no longer a Russian province. Please start the process of replacing Soviet translations with new ones, which are based on Ukrainian real names.
Pogoda.ru this is a Russian site. Since Russia annexed 7 percent of the Ukrainian territory in 2014 (Crimea and russian separatism in Donetsk Oblast, Luhansk oblast) - the use of this site is not correct. You can not use the site of the state, which is involved in the murder of 11,200 Ukrainians in the east of Ukraine. Please remove the site of the aggressor country of the Ukrainian territory.--Bohdan Bondar(会話) 2018年7月8日 (日) 12:35 (UTC)
返信 (利用者:Bohdan Bondar宛) Sorry, but most of Japanese stil call the Ukrainian capital city as "キエフ". For example, even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs call it "キエフ".[1] In Japanese Wikipedia, Japanese common spelling often take priority over the local name. In addition, in 2008, Japanese users discussed the title of the article at the talk page, but they couldn't determine the suitable spelling of Ukrainian "Kyiv" in Japanese. I'm very sorry, but we need enough Japanese references to change the article's name!

Duplicate article
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Dear members of the Japanese-language Wikipedia, I have noticed that you have two different articles for a same subject: カセグレン式望遠鏡 and カセグレン焦点, that both concern the Cassegrain telescope. Could you please confirm me that they are indeed duplicate and, in this case, could you please merge these two articles into a single one? My request actually comes from the fact that you, along with two other Wikipedias (the Arabic-language and Catalan-language Wikipedias), have two articles on this subject, that are therefore on two different Wikidata pages, and that therefore prevent the merging of these two Wikidata pages dealing with the same subject, therefore breaking many connections between the different languages. I thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, SenseiAC(会話) 2018年8月26日 (日) 17:11 (UTC)

about adding a link

Hi, I need your kindly help.
I added a link to the “外部リンク” of “中国の人権問題”, later it was deleted and I was informed that maybe I should put it in the section named “出典”. Then, I tried again. However, the link I added has been removed again, with an explanation saying that it is not a source.
I think the external link is very valuable and useful for reference, but I always failed😔. So could you please help check and add it correctly?--打井愛華葉(会話) 2018年11月9日 (金) 12:42 (UTC)
- The particular link you are trying to add seems to violate WP:NPOV; unless if it contains crucial information that are mentioned in the article, it should not be used (which I think is what the editor that reverted you was thinking). Alex Shih(会話) 2018年11月13日 (火) 07:38 (UTC)

Help identifying a japanese artist
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Hello everyone. Im uploading an artist dataset provided by an Uruguayan Museum and i found this work: http://acervo.mnav.gub.uy/obras.php?q=na:796 of a "Shizuka Onda". A simple google search didn't gave any good results so i came here asking if anyone can provide some information or (better yet!), create the wikidata entity of her. She seems to be contemporary (that work i linked is from 1990). Thank you all.--Zeroth(会話) 2018年12月5日 (水) 12:28 (UTC)
- @Zeroth: Her name may be "Shizuko Onda" (恩田 静子), not "Shizuka Onda". According to this page, she is a sculptor who was born in 1936 and uses acrylic resin. I cannot identify the work in Uruguayan museum as Shizuko Onda's work exactly, but her style looks similar to the work as far as I found in this page. --Jishinni (talk) 2018年12月5日 (水) 14:58 (UTC)
- Thank you!. It's certainly very possible is the same artist, considering works like this: http://www.akibi.ac.jp/~suzuki/niki/1999/c99iin01/ci99ondashi.html (very simmilary and as far as i understand, using the same materials as the present in the uruguayan museum). I've created the entity and linked to other identifiers: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q59462533 Regards!--Zeroth(会話) 2018年12月5日 (水) 15:29 (UTC)
Removal of "クリスタルジュエルズアニメアドベンチャーズ"
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Greetings! I'm in need of some help for filing a deletion request of the page クリスタルジュエルズアニメアドベンチャーズ.
I am a staff member of the English-language anime website AniDB, and just a few days ago a certain user tried to add the an anime series called "Crystal Jewels" into our database, for the fourth time after first being denied three times in 2017. Back then, it seemed that he was only targeting websites directly focusing on anime, but this time we discovered that they have managed to do actual damage with this hoax. This page is among one of those connected with it; it attempts to describe a manga spinoff of that series.
The original source for the whole hoax seems to be this fanon page (if you read through all of that, it's an obvious non-existing Pokémon series ripoff he devised on his own). Unfortunately, he has successfully managed to get some variations of Crystal Jewels even included into reputable websites like IMDB – but naturally, nothing links back to anything concrete of this existing. User names this user is associated with on multiple sites include Kouchu, Crystal1993, Lukeson Ashbourne (e.g. as the uploader of this bizarre clip) and variations of 36u6s, among other things. The last one is what he seems to have gone with here on Japanese Wikipedia.
Please assist me in removing this hoax :) In case you need more information (of course, only in the extent of my own knowledge), I'll check here regularly; while I can read a bit of Japanese, I'm relying on a dictionary for a lot of words and I'm not good at all in writing myself, so I don't feel I'm able to contribute properly to the deletion candidate discussion that should follow. Thanks in advance!

LTA:ISECHIKA's sockpuppets
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: ネイ(会話) 2019年5月6日 (月) 14:20 (UTC)
Hi everybody, I am Techyan from Chinese Wikipedia. Recently some of LTA:ISECHIKA's sockpuppets have their account first registered on jawiki, but only vandalize on other wikis. These accounts can be confirmed as ISECHIKA's socks from their editing preferences, and usually blocked on several other wikis (including some Japanese-language wikis), then globally locked, without vandalizing jawiki itself. I think there's still a need to have these account documented, but my recent edit to a list got reverted. There are several other users actively report ISECHIKA's socks onto meta for global lock. Please help report account that found to be vandalizing globally to meta, and also keep those found on other wikis on record.
Here's some of them: Special:diff/71340214, [2], [3], [4]
--Techyan(会話) 2019年1月21日 (月) 02:18 (UTC)
- Hello - I spoke with the user who reverted your change - it was done on privacy concerns. Namely, we avoid adding account names that look like an ordinary person's name onto the list. In my opinion we are not precluding accounts that only vandalize on other wikis from being added to the list but agree with the privacy concerns. Also, quite a few jawiki users are not comfortable communicating in English, so there needs to be an easier way for reporting if reporting to meta is encouraged.--ネイ(会話) 2019年1月21日 (月) 04:54 (UTC)

Request for edit
[編集]Hi, will you be able to edit the title of the main page from オイラの靴は日本製 to 私 の 靴 が 日本語,as this is very urgent,to let people know that the former of these is the wrong translation of "Mera Joota Hai Japani" and the latter of these is the right translation of "Mera Joota Hai Japani"
- The former is inappropriate and the latter is appropriate. 靴 is a word that means shoes, and 日本語 is a language.--プログラム(会話) 2019年3月27日 (水) 10:51 (UTC)
Yes,you are right my friend, but in the similar way 私 is a word that means I,ズボン is a word which means pants,頭 is a word which means head,赤い is a word which means red,帽子 is a word that means cap,しかし is a word that means however,心 is a word that means heart,ロシア語is a language, イギリスタン語 is also a language and ヒンドスタン語 is also a language, and due to this reason,I want you to allow me to change the title of the page mentioned about here from オイラの靴は日本製 to 私 の 靴 が 日本語
- Shoes are not a language. 私 の 靴 が 日本語 doesn't make sense, and オイラの靴は日本製 is the right translation.--プログラム(会話) 2019年4月7日 (日) 09:46 (UTC)
That also I know my friend, you might say that pants, red hat,and heart are also not languages so in that way この ズボン が イギリスタン語,頭 の 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 and しかし 心 が ヒンドスタン語 also don't make sense, and このズボンは英国製,頭の赤い帽子はロシア製 and でも心はインド製 are the right translations, however I contradict with this statement, as none of those four lines will make sense in that way, rather whatever I have written do match with the original lyrics of the song "Mera Joota Hai Japani,Yeh Patloon Inglistani,Sar Pe Lal Topi Rusi,Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani" if you have any doubt you can check in the internet
- "Japani" is an adjective that means "of or relating to Japan" in this context.--プログラム(会話) 2019年4月8日 (月) 05:51 (UTC)
That is correct my friend, but in the similar way "Inglistani" is an adjective that means "of or relating to England","Rusi" is an adjective that means "of or relating to Russia" and "Hindustani" is an adjective that means "of or relating to India" in this context
- オイラの靴は日本製 is natural Japanese. 私 の 靴 が 日本語 is terrible translation which has some wrong grammars. 私の靴は日本製 can be acceptable, and appropriate for Japanese language learner. オイラ is a first-person pronoun that tells the person is a naughty little boy. It is used in movies, animes or comics, while almost no real person does use it nowadays. --Uiweo(会話) 2019年4月9日 (火) 00:19 (UTC)
That means Uiweo, you are saying that この ズボン は イギリスタン製,頭 の 赤い 帽子 は ロシア製 and しかし 心 は ヒンドスタン製 are also acceptable and appropriate for Japanese language learner, you are also saying that この ズボン が イギリスタン語,頭 の 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 and しかし 心 が ヒンドスタン語 are also terrible translations which also have some wrong grammars,However オイラの靴は日本製 is unnatural Japanese, and we are not using the first-person pronoun オイラ here as there is no naughty little boy anywhere in this movie, and it is neither an anime nor a comic as there are a few real people in it
- この ズボン が イギリスタン語,頭 の 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 and しかし 心 が ヒンドスタン語
- No. イギリスタン語 and ヒンドスタン語 are not Japanese. We don't have such words. このズボンはイギリス製、頭に被る赤い帽子はロシア製、しかし心はインド製 is natural perfectly, however 頭に被る赤い帽子はロシア製 sounds too long as a lyric for this song. 赤い帽子はロシア製 is good enough in my opinion. The translation in the article is good to me too. 製 in しかし心はインド製 is odd as Japanese but understandable in this particular context.
- Please understand that Japanese language does not have equivalent grammar of demonym. Both of 日本語 and 日本人 can be translated into Japanese, for the sake of expedience, but it does not mean they can be mixed. 赤い帽子はロシア語 means 'red hat is "Russian language"', not "Russian people". There is no exact translation of 'Russian' in Japanese. If a sentence says 'Russian', you need to understand the context, and pick ロシア語 for language or ロシア人 for people strictly. ロシア製 is a translation of 'made in Russia', therefore you should not confuse it with 'Russian'.
- While オイラ is not heard recently, it is still appeared in songs yet. When I hear オイラ, it gives me a sense of lyric or transcript. For your information, real people actually used it until 40 years ago.--Uiweo(会話) 2019年4月12日 (金) 05:43 (UTC)
この ズボン が イギリスタン語,頭 の 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 and しかし 心 が ヒンドスタン語 Yes. イギリスタン語 and ヒンドスタン語 are not Japanese.that's why these words are written in Katakana instead of Hiragana, since you don't have such words,However このズボンはイギリス製、頭に被る赤い帽子はロシア製、しかし心はインド製 is completely unnatural,so even though 頭 の 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 may sound too long as a lyric for this song, yet 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 cann't be used alone in this context,The translation made by me for this particular song is good enough in my opinion, and this one is perfectly accurate too,語 in しかし 心 が ヒンドスタン語 is not odd as Japanese and understandable in this particular context,I know that Japanese language does not have equivalent grammar of demonym, and since the words you are talking of can be translated into Japanese, they are both written in Hiragana, there are also no exact translations of 'English','Indian' and 'Japanese' in Japanese,I know the context, however in this case I will use 語 instead of 人 as shoes, pants, red hat, heart etc are not people,so in this case I will strictly contradict with you,I know that 人 is always used for people and 語 is always used for language,so I never mix them up,however 赤い 帽子 が ロシア語 has a meaning that the red hat on the speaker's head is Russian,ロシア語 is a translation of 'made in Russia', so I never try to confuse it with 'Russian',As オイラ is not heard recently,so it cannot appear in this particular song too and nobody gets a sense of lyric or transcript on hearing オイラ other than you so the real people who used it until 40 years ago were illiterates
- I think here is not appropriate place to discuss about it. Let's continue the discussion at the note of ノート:オイラの靴は日本製. --Uiweo(会話) 2019年4月27日 (土) 07:39 (UTC)
I know that my friend, but プログラム can edit the title page of the Japanese Wikipedia accordingly, which is the only help that I want
- Since a conclusion appears to be reached at ノート:オイラの靴は日本製#歌詞の翻訳の善し悪しについて, I have marked this section as resolved.--ネイ(会話) 2019年5月12日 (日) 08:00 (UTC)
That's right my friend, but you should tell Strangesnow that I'm not a vandal and only プログラム will be able to resolve the problem by editing that page accordingly
- "私 の 靴 が 日本語" is completely wrong and "オイラの靴は日本製" is correct, so I won't change the title.--プログラム(会話) 2019年5月16日 (木) 09:40 (UTC)
You have to change the title as it doesn't show "Naughty Boy's Shoes Are Of Japanese Nature" if you read it carefully

- @Aoke1989 and Veracious: I'm very sorry to have kept you two waiting so long. First of all, Den Gai-san won a grand prize at the 19th photo contest 1_WALL. This award is recognized as a gateway to success for young photographers, but since it is featured in the Japanese photographic magazine Asahi Camera, I don't think it is an award without authority (please refer to this link). When I looked for significant third-party references to help determine whether this person meet the notability guideline or not, I found comments from several experts about his photographic work on display at 1_WALL. In my opinion, reflecting these comments to the Wikipedia article to some extent will satisfy the notability. This link also provides a brief introduction to his career as a photographer.
- However, I couldn't find any third-party references to discuss his background or his general style based on his multiple works. It can't be helped because he's a rookie photographer, but I think it is desirable that such information is included in the article. In my opinion, Wikipedia articles about people in the art field should mention their style or social appraisal sufficiently. I also searched for his name in major Japanese newspapers (Asahi, Mainichi, Nikkei, and Yomiuri) just in case, but I couldn't find any related articles. By the way, his personal exhibition is scheduled to be held next month as a result of receiving the award at 1_WALL, so more information sources with significant references to him may be released in the future.
- Anyway, while some users may point out that winning the above award alone doesn't necessarily guarantee that Den Gai-san has met the standards for writing a separate article, I think the issue at present will be how authoritative the "1_WALL award" is in this field.--stck_w (Talk/Edits) 2019年6月22日 (土) 12:30 (UTC)
- Since Aoke1989-san has thanked me for my comments above, and 1 week has passed since then, I would like to mark this topic as resolved. If you want to continue the discussion, please go to the note page. Thank you.--stck_w (Talk/Edits) 2019年7月10日 (水) 16:46 (UTC)

Merge 方向幕 with 行先標
[編集]I think that these articles 方向幕 and 行先標 on Japanese Wikipedia should be merged. I will explain how I found out about them. First, I was looking at the "Destination Sign" article on Wikipedia but I wanted to see the Chinese article (just because I sometimes like looking at it and know a bit of Chinese. But I still have better English than Chinese skills) but saw there was no Chinese version linked. Now, because I was curious I tried to click another language version to see what it looked like (I think it was the Japanese version. I don't speak Japanese). It turned out that not only was there a Chinese version linked, there was also 3 other languages versions linked that the English version doesn't link to. So I went on Wikidata and wanted to add links to 4 language corresponding pages (Danish, German, Dutch, Chinese) to the English wiki page "Destination sign" but couldn't because they are already linked to "Destination Sign" (with the S in Sign in capitals, which isn't a Wikipedia page currently). So I requested for the "Destination Sign" (capital S in Sign) to be deleted in Wikidata. But I was told that the Japanese articles must be merged first and got sent a link here and was told to ask for help here. I looked at the two different Japanese pages using Google Translate, and they look like they can be merged. Can someone please help me with requesting the pages to be merged? Thank you very much! Harry K. Fukuhara
[編集]- この節は次の利用者の依頼で過去ログ化されました: プログラム(会話) 2019年8月15日 (木) 11:09 (UTC)
An Internet Provider editor on English Wikipedia has stated that Harry K. Fukuhara's full name should be Harry Katsuharu Fukuhara and not Harry Katsuji Fukuhara: see [6]. The references on English Wikipedia do not confirm which is correct, so the middle name and the whole Japanese name have been removed from the English article. An internet search finds "Japanese Americans: The History and Culture of a People" on Google Books which has an article on Harry Katsuharu Fukuhara on Page 121. Please could a Japanese speaking editor check Japanese sources and update the Japanese Wikipedia article and if possible advise on the correct Japanese name for the English article. TSventon(会話) 2019年8月13日 (火) 10:23 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for quite important information. I added other sources including a Japanese one to yours and have edited the middle name as the sources show in both Japanese and English versions.--Ryota7906(会話) 2019年8月13日 (火) 21:17 (UTC)

- Yes, 福原克治 is correct.--プログラム(会話) 2019年8月14日 (水) 14:50 (UTC)
- Japanese kanji (Chinese characters) in general have several readings and could have much more when they are for proper nouns. His given name is 克治, and the name itself can be read as Katsuharu, Katsuji or many other different forms (although Katsuharu and Katsuji seems to be more frequent than others). So you will often see that the kanji name is correct but the reading is wrong, which is the case here. --Ryota7906(会話) 2019年8月14日 (水) 22:55 (UTC)
- プログラム, Ryota7906, Thanks for the explanation, I thought it could have something to do with reading Chinese characters, but wasn't sure. I will copy your explanation to the article talk page. I think my query is now fully resolved. TSventon(会話) 2019年8月15日 (木) 10:24 (UTC)

[編集]Hello! We noticed on Wikidata that you have two articles about “flash fiction”: ショートショート and フラッシュフィクション. Could you please check them and tell us what are the differences? Thanks in advance! Bencemac(会話) 2019年4月14日 (日) 13:53 (UTC)
- Could somebody take a look? Bencemac(会話) 2019年5月19日 (日) 08:13 (UTC)
- @Bencemac: Sorry for late response. フラッシュフィクション is the direct transpriction to katakana character of "flash fiction". ショートショート means "short short story" and it is still more popular name in Japan.--Jishinni (talk) 2019年5月24日 (金) 13:56 (UTC)

- @Bencemac: I think we do not distinguish them exactly and the difference is vague in Japanese, so I am not sure they are different subjects. Perhaps we should merge フラッシュフィクション with ショートショート in Japanese Wikipedia because フラッシュフィクション is a substub. Sorry for unclear answer. --Jishinni (talk) 2019年5月24日 (金) 14:55 (UTC)

I want to give my opinion (but I can't because I don't know much Japanese, and when I tried to edit it was reverted back...) about the articles about Emperor Akihito (上皇明仁) and Prince Hisahito (悠仁親王), because there are a very long family tree that is not necessary in my opinion (上皇明仁#オルターナティブ形式、悠仁親王#familytree形式). The reason is simple - it's from 皇室の系図一覧#familytree形式 and not everyone is interested about it; plus, why would we need it if 徳仁, 秋篠宮文仁親王 or any other emperors don't even include the family tree? - George6VI(会話) 2019年6月6日 (木) 09:50 (UTC)
- Thank you for suggestion, however I recommend you that do not touch articles on any of our emperor family. Please understand the family tree of emperor is still a great interest for most of Japanese people. I bet it is beyond your imagination. --Uiweo(会話) 2019年7月27日 (土) 06:34 (UTC)

Update requested for セントジョン・プロビデンス・ヘルスシステム and プロビデンス・パーク病院 (Michigan hospital system and a hospital catering to Japanese in the U.S.)
[編集]Hi, guys! St. John Providence Health System (セントジョン・プロビデンス・ヘルスシステム) had its name changed to Ascension Michigan, and St. John Providence Park Hospital (プロビデンス・パーク病院) is now known as Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus.
I would like to move the entities to their new names and provide sourcing about the name changes:
What complicates this is that I cannot find the spelling of the new name in Japanese materials: "Japanese Program" still refers to the system as "セントジョンヘルスシステム" and the hospital as "プロビデンスパーク病院"

Question on how to obtain information from pages 286 and 287 from the 1971 book "日本人メキシコ移住史"
[編集]@Zerabat: Dear JAwiki users, I am highly interested in obtaining Nihon-jin mekishiko ijūshi (日本人メキシコ移住史; "The History of the Japanese Immigrants in Mexico") by Minoru Izawa. The citation here:
- "Minoru, Izawa〔ママ〕, Nihon-jin mekishiko ijushi (The History of the Japanese Immigrants in Mexico). Tokyo: 1971."
Page 225 of the same book says the info is in pages 286 and 287.
The claim in question sourced to this book is:
- "However, one Japanese source estimates that roughly 80 percent of the Japanese were forcibly relocated to Mexico City with the largest coming from Baja California.11"
Thank you, WhisperToMe(会話) 2019年8月20日 (火) 01:36 (UTC)
CiNii had the record here: https://ci.nii.ac.jp/ncid/BN06398903 specifying the title as "日本人メキシコ移住史" (published 1971), attributed to 日本人メキシコ移住史編纂委員会.
I'd really appreciate it if someone figures out how to find this. WhisperToMe(会話) 2019年8月20日 (火) 01:41 (UTC)
- @WhisperToMe: I found Tokyo Metropolitan Library had it. Tokyo Metropolitan Library offers reference services by letters or email. --ねをなふみそね(会話) 2019年9月6日 (金) 03:39 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info! I do not know if it is in the "Special Literature Archives" - if not, I may have to call the library via Skype. WhisperToMe(会話) 2019年9月6日 (金) 05:16 (UTC)
Update! I visited Tokyo in person and went to the Metropolitan Library; I much appreciate the work the staff did in helping me find the source! The Izawa source verifies that Japanese were sent to Mexico City and Guadalajara, but I could not verify the 80% figure. I e-mailed Jerry García (author of Looking Like the Enemy: Japanese Mexicans, the Mexican State, and US Hegemony, 1897-1945 which cites Izawa and gives the 80% figure, saying that Izawa came up with it) and asked him if maybe there's something I am missing... Dear JAwiki editors,
An anonymous user is altering a birth name of a living person. People familiar with English will recognize the latter as a vulgarity and obvious vandalism.
Arudou is a living person, so his article needs to have the vandalism dealt with promptly with acknowledgment that this is a vulgarity in English. Thank you,
As per this page the correct name is "Schofill".

Infobox image syntax
[編集]Is there an Japanese Wikipedia equivalent to English Wikipedia's en:WP:THUMBSIZE or en:WP:IBI page? On English Wikipedia it's pretty much common practice not to use the thumbnail syntax for infobox images because the most infobox templates and the Wikipedia software will automatically format the size of the infobox image based upon the device the reader is using. In addition, it also makes it easier for screen reader to "read" to infobox image's caption when the caption parameter is used because a thumbnail image typically requires an "alt_text" parameter be provided for thumbnail images whereas the infobox caption parameter doesn't and can be read by screen readers. Maybe the software and templates used for Japanese Wikipedia work differently, however, based upon this post here. Anyway, just curious for my own benefit. -- Marchjuly(会話) 2019年11月19日 (火) 14:27 (UTC) ロシア語
