Yuta Okuda (June 12, 1987 - ) is a Japanese contemporary artist. He is the president of yutaokuda stuido Co.

Life and Career

In 2022, he established his own company, yutaokuda studio.

This studio is staffed by assistants who aspire to become artists.

In addition to his own artistic activities, he also designs advertisements, packages, editorials, and collaborates with fashion brands.

Turned artist

After witnessing an artist he knew sell his work at an exhibition, he decided to quit his career as a designer and became an artist.

He managed to make a living by making and selling postcards and other goods.

Activities

Born in 1987 in Inuyama, Aichi, Japan, the eldest of four siblings.

After graduating from high school, he studied fashion design at the Institute Marangoni in London, graduating in 2010, and began his creative activities as yutaokuda.

In 2012, he started working as a designer for TAKEO KIKUCHI, a fashion brand developed by World Co.

Since then, he has been working as an artist in earnest.

・COVID-19 has drastically changed the values we took for granted,

My own artistic activities were restricted one after another, and I spent my days feeling feelings akin to "disappointment" and "sadness.

Even in such a difficult time, I have a family that I love very much, and I spend precious time with them,

I realized the "happiness" that I had taken for granted, that I "have" a loving family,

Rather than grieving for what I have lost, it is important to "look at the happiness I have now and be thankful for it,

This is the reason why we can live positively.

By comparing this gratitude to a single flower and presenting a bouquet of gratitude through my work,

I hope that by presenting a bouquet of gratitude through this work of art, the recipient will feel positive and refreshed.

・Just as everyone is different, there are various feelings of gratitude, and I have visualized each of these feelings in the form of 365 days + 1 day of gratitude.

Just by being thankful for one thing every day, life can become as vivid and colorful as this group of works.

Children Watching You

Children grow up by watching what adults do.

Corona was a time when values changed and moral values were also questioned.

The fear and anxiety caused by the sudden change often led them to choose actions they would not have taken under normal circumstances.

It is precisely in these times of turmoil that adults must be aware that they are being observed by the children,

This work is a reflection of my own determination and desire to "straighten up" in our daily lives.

I drew this work with the belief that parents' actions are always being watched by their own children and their children's children, and that we need to act accordingly.

Beautiful Food Chain

This series was created based on my imagination: "If all living things are a food chain starting from insects that come to suck nectar from flowers, it must be beautiful, and all living things are composed of flowers.

It is the series that best represents my theme of "CIRCULATION,

CIRCULATION" and is also the series that I have been working with the longest in my career as an artist.

I depict the creatures of the Chinese zodiac as a cycle that goes beyond the food chain.
