フランク・ウィルフレッド・ジョーダン(Frank Wilfred Jordan、1881年10月6日 - 1941年1月12日)は、イギリスの物理学者である。1918年にウィリアム・エクルズとともにフリップフロップ回路を発明した[1][2]。この回路は、コンピュータのメモリの基礎となった。
生涯
[編集]F・W・ジョーダンは、1881年10月6日にイングランドのケント州カンタベリーで、エドワード・ジェームズ・ジョーダンとエリザ・エディス・キングの間に生まれた。1916年12月7日、カンタベリーでファニー・ベントレー・ウッドと結婚した。1941年1月12日、イングランドのグロスターシャー州ウィンチカムで59歳で死亡した。生年月日、出生地、結婚、死亡などの情報は、一般登記所の証明書で確認されている[3][4][5][6]。
ジョーダンは、カンタベリーにあるサイモン・ラングトン・グラマースクール・フォー・ボーイズで中等教育を受けた[7]。1899年から1904年までロンドンの王立科学大学に在学し[8]、物理学のアソシエイトシップと修士号(Master of Science)を取得して卒業した[9][10]。1912年には王立科学大学で物理学の講師を務めたと見られる[11]。1918年にはロンドン・シティ・ギルド協会で電気技師を務めた[12]。彼については、他にはほとんど知られていない。
