Sadwyrm

[編集]

Sadwyrm is not Sadworm. Only the pronunciation is similar.

Sadwyrm is planning to translate the entire 西洋剣術 page and submit relevant sections to prominent students (for example, Roland Warzecha of DIMICATOR) of different sections of Historical European Martial Arts(HEMA) and historians(or archaeologists. For example, Roland Warzecha of DIMICATOR) for the sake of page quality. This will include:

  • Any and all misconceptions pointed out by the aforementioned students and historians, not limited to Roland Warzecha of DIMICATOR. That just happens to be the only one asked so far about participating in this project.
  • As Japan has no real access to HEMA resources and no way to realistically practice HEMA anyway due to the law against swords and firearms(which will not change for the next millennium at least), techniques and detailed instructions on how to execute different guards and techniques as well as information on footwork will be included while history takes a backseat. This will reduce misconceptions of HEMA in Japan as many techniques shown in historical manuals such as grabbing a longsword by the blade to use as an improvised warhammer are frequently seen as either silly or examples of incorrect usage.
  • As accurate basic summaries as possible on European swords and other relevant summarised information as is required for the average Japanese person not intending to spend days reading on multiple different pages. It can get very tedious.
  • External Links to HEMA forums and resources, as well as contact information for such schools and individuals as Roland Warzecha of DIMICATOR, sadly available mainly only in English. A link to the Japanese Armoured Battle League's website will also be added as it is the only HEMA organisation in Japan despite making HEMA look like it is nothing but European kendo in steel plate. Sadwyrm is not a known fan of swinging a facsimile of a sword with a goal only to score points with no concern for proper technique. Proper technique would probably be banned anyway for strange and outdated reasons.

Sadwyrm appears to be the only practitioner(currently only at beginner level) of HEMA swordsmanship capable of speaking rudimentary Japanese who is interested in such a time-consuming and lengthy contribution. Sadwyrm hopes his plans will work out and he will not be banned or have his hard work deleted after spending weeks contacting people all over Europe for good information simply for changing an entire article at once.

Sadwyrm hopes this user information page is up to standards and hopes it will not be deleted or cause him to be banned as he wishes to contribute on a topic that seems to be distorted in Japan due to their only real understandable sources being video games, movies and the 西洋剣術 page.
