Desktop Improvements: first steps

Hello! I would like to present to you Desktop Improvements, a series of changes which make the desktop interface easier to understand and use. Soon, on the Village Pump, I will ask your community to agree to make these changes default on Vector skin. Desktop Improvements are default on many wikis already, including French and Indonesian Wikipedias. Of course, there will be an option to easily switch back to the current default. We do not touch other skins like Monobook or Timeless.

Would gadgets and user scripts continue to work with these changes? This is just a new version of Vector, so in principle, the compatibility should be maintained. However, there are different tools, some of them may old, so some checking needs to be made. I would like to ask you to see if something's not working. Our engineers will help if anything needs to be updated.

To change the skin individually, go to the Appearance tab in the preferences and select Vector (2022).
