アフマド・ザーヒル (احمد ظاهر / Ahmad Zahir, 1946年6月14日 - 1979年6月14日）は、アフガニスタンのシンガーソングライター、作曲家・歌手。「アフガニスタンのエルヴィス」のあだ名で知られ[1]、「アフガニスタン史上最も偉大な歌手」とみなされている[2]。ほとんどの歌はダリー語で歌われているが、彼はパシュトー語でも多くを歌い、ロシア語・ウルドゥ語・英語でも歌った[3][4]。
カーブル生まれ。33歳の誕生日に不慮の死を迎えるまで、少なくとも14枚のスタジオアルバムを録音した。その楽曲は、民謡、ペルシャ文学、インドの古典音楽、西洋のポップスとロックのスタイルを融合させたものであった[2]。アフガニスタン人の間では、彼はアフガニスタン音楽のアイコンと見なされており、アフガニスタンでの音楽への貢献と影響により、死後不滅の名声を取り戻し、史上最高のミュージシャンとして広く認められている[5]。彼はまた、長きにわたる「紛争」以前の平和な時代のアフガニスタンのアイコンにもなっている[6]。
