デビッド・M・グランツ（David M. Glantz、1942年1月11 - ）は、第二次世界大戦中の東部戦線に関する著書で知られるアメリカの軍事史家であり、The Journal of Slavic Military Studiesの主任編集者としても知られている。

経歴

ニューヨーク州ポートチェスター生まれ。バージニア軍事大学とノースカロライナ大学チャペルヒル校で歴史学の学位を取得。アメリカ陸軍指揮幕僚大学、国防総省語学学校、ロシア・東欧研究所、アメリカ陸軍戦略大学を卒業。

アメリカ陸軍で30年以上のキャリアを持ち、ベトナム戦争に従軍、1993年に大佐で退役。

教職歴

グランツは、サウスカロライナ州陸軍士官学校シタデルの歴史学のマーク W. クラーク客員教授でした。

退職後の活動

第二次世界大戦におけるソ連の役割に関する軍事史家として知られている。

1988年に『The Journal of Soviet Military Studies』（ソビエト軍事研究ジャーナル）を創刊し、1993年に誌名を『The Journal of Slavic Military Studies』と変更し2017年末まで編集長を務めた。

彼は、戦争へのソビエト連邦の関与の見方は西側では偏見を持っており、西側はドイツの口頭および印刷された情報源に過度に依存しており、ソビエトの情報源資料の同様の調査によってバランスが取れていないと主張している. 火星作戦に関する彼の著書のレビューで、文書化された情報源を参照せずに歴史上の人物の特定の考えや感情を発明するなど、彼の文体の選択のいくつかについて批判されている。
