About ESEAP Hub Interim Committee looking for member from Japanese Community

[編集]

안녕하세요 Motoko C. K, 你好Joycewikiwiki, this is Yumiko, in Japan. Though I can't join you, I wonder whether you've received responses from the Japanese community on it. Both of you might notice that few Japanese users interested in the international activates. I often talk with translators about it and the walls. I used to post about Meta activates at the Noticeboard and Village pump a lot till last year. A user proposed that "WMF notices are too much and noisy" in July. Though its discussion was held for a month, the Japanese notice board was divided in 2. Your post is in the "WMF Notice board". I'm afraid that few users/readers see the page. I used to try to reach out to students who major in international relationship or languages. All I found is that for the Japanese youth, the doors/steps are too high because everything is established. Now a few users and I have been struggling to improve the situation. The core issue of the high wall is troublesome users, e.g. a user, who edits child abuse, has threatened some users (not only admins) who blocked him(her). A user and I've started the preparation for the sue. I wish I could have more time for ESEAP and Wikimania 2023, but issues keep popping on and on, I'm sorry for this.--YShibata会話2023年1月28日 (土) 11:26 (UTC)[返信]

Hello @YShibata,
Sorry I wasn't able to see this page sooner. I spend most of my time on meta-wiki. I totally understand what you are sharing, please do not feel sorry about this. In Taiwan, we are also have similir situation, and these situation could be frustrated and time-consuming. I am sorry that you and other contributer have to go through this.
However, I am still pretty confidence about the future establishment of broader east Asia community, we (Taiwan&Korea) will do our best to cover what would be needed to form a better inclusive ESEAP community. And Japan are welcome to join anytime you feel prepared.
All the best,
