The Type 97/47 ShinHoTo Chi-Ha was considered the best production tank to see combat. It was an upgraded Chi-Ha with an enlarged three-man turret (ShinHoTo actually translates as ‘new turret’) and high-velocity 47mm tank gun.
It first saw action at the 1942 Battle of Corregidor in the Philippines and served until the end of the war in the Pacific.
This example was recovered from Mukden (now Shenyang) in 1945 and is now on display in Hall 12 of the Patriot Museum Complex.
