ノート:ボーティック・ファン・デ・ザンスフルプ

ボティック・ファン・デ・ザンツフルプに改名されていましたが、改名提案なしの改名実行ということで記事を戻しました。改名を実行する場合は改名提案をしてください。

より良い表記で記事名改名ということで、BoticのIPAを[ˈboːtɪk]から[ˈbo.tɪk]に変更されたようですが、Boticのoは次の子音字が1つということで長母音となり、[ˈboː.tɪk]となるのでは？(Wiktionaryを参考に作成)--Gofukuji（会話） 2021年9月10日 (金) 21:49 (UTC)[返信]

1. As a reply to this. No, it doesn't sound like "ts". See the IPA transcription, there is a dot indicating that "d" and "s" belong to 2 different syllables.
2. See nl:"Botic van de Zandschulp". It says [ˈbo.tɪk]. The "o" is not long.
3. Yes, the stressed vowel is always longer than the corresponding unstressed vowel. And in Dutch the vowel in an open syllable is longer than the corresponding vowel in a closed syllable. (The "o" in "Botic" is longer then the one in "bot".) But even if the "o" in "Botic" is long, it doesn't mean that we have to add "ー" for every open syllable when transcribing to Japanese, it is not done like this. --Moscow Connection（会話） 2021年9月11日 (土) 08:35 (UTC)[返信]

  Reply to 1.: The "ds" in Zandschulp is in a different syllables in オランダ語発音: [zɑnt.sxʏlp], so it's certainly not t͡s. However, the "d" is not silent, so if we were to write it strictly, it would be pronounced 「ザント－スフルプ」(日本語発音: [d͡zantosɯ̥huɾupɯ̥]), which would have two extra vowels. Since Zand and schulp are not pronounced separately as in first and last names, I think it would be better to make it sound like ts in the Japanese notation and use 「ザンツフルプ」 [d͡zant͡sɯ̥huɾupɯ̥].
  Reply to 2.: Do you mean that you can hear the person pronounce [ˈbo.tɪk] and confirm that he is saying it phonetically? I'm not a phonetics expert, so I'm not sure about this. But even if it is a short vowel in Dutch, wouldn't it still be [ˈbɔ.tɪk]? (en:Help:IPA/Dutch)。
  Reply to 3.: Certainly, even if it is a long vowel in Dutch, the type with one vowel character often does not have a long vowel 「ー」 in Japanese notation, so it may not always be necessary to add a long vowel.

IPAからの日本語表記に対する意見が割れてるので、WOWOW表記（ここを参照）の「ボティック・ファン・デ・ザンツフープ」にすることを提案します。WOWOWは日本でGS中継を行う放送局で、おそらく日本で最も影響力のあるテニスのメディアであることから、Wikipedia:記事名の付け方#記事名の付け方の目安の「認知度が高い」「見つけやすい」を満たすと考えられます。ただ、WOWOWは言語の専門機関という訳ではなく、選手表記も変えることがよくあるのでそこが難点です。WOWOW表記とIPAからの日本語表記で著しく違うということもない（"ul"を「ウー」とする日本語表記は慣例ではありませんが）ので、暫定的にこれで良いのではないかと考えています。

1. As far I I know, when similar-looking English words ("lands", "sands") are transcribed into Japanese, the "d" is simply ignored. For example, "WANDS" = "ワンズ". This makes sense, because this way there's no extra syllable.
2. I too am not an expert in phonectics. But the Dutch Wikipedia editors wrote "[ˈbo.tɪk]".
4. The WOWOW transcription is simply incorrect, there's no "ツ" ("ts"). "Zandschulp" meands "sand shell". There are two parts, "Zand" ("sand") and "schulp" ("schell"), the "d" and the "s" don't make a "ツ" ("ts"). And as far as I can see, the most common spelling of his last name in Japanese is actually "ザンスフルプ" (Google News).

- 返信 1.について: "en: lands"や"en: sands"などの英語発音: [dz]と[ts]では、ちょっと話が違ってくると思います。日本語母語者は[dz]と[z]の区別ができません。例えば、"en: cards"と"en: cars"は区別できません。そのため、日本語表記上ではどちらも「カーズ」となります。しかし、[s]と[ts]に関してはそれぞれ日本語の音素の一つとして「す」と「つ」があるので日本語表記では使い分けられるのが慣例です。例えば"en: state"の日本語表記は「ステート」、"en: states"は「ステーツ」という表記が一般的です。
  2.について: ウィキペディアンは信頼できる情報源ではありません。
  3.について: 基本的に検索エンジンの検索結果は検証が難しいため、出典とすることよくないこととされています。それを考慮した上でも、2021年9月12日現在にGoogleでニュース検索した場合、「"ザンスフルプ"」が17件、「"ザンツフープ"」が約1,950件、ついでに「"ザンツフルプ"」が0件となっていて、「ザンツフープ」が優勢です。
  一つ重要なこととして、正しい外来語の日本語表記というのは存在しません。"Botic van de Zandschulp"を正しく日本語で表記したいというのであれば、"Botic van de Zandschulp"とそのまま表記するしかありません。WOWOWの表記も、このページの現在のページ名も正しいとは言えません。なので、とりあえず現時点で最も認知度が高いと思われる出典可能な表記としてWOWOW表記への改名を提案しました。
