コンチネンタル・エクスプレス2574便墜落事故

コンチエンタル・エクスプレス航空2574便墜落事故は、1991年9月11日テキサス州にて墜落した事故。ちなみにこの日から10年に、アメリカ同時多発テロが起きた。乗客乗員14人全員死亡した。

事故機

The Embraer 120 Brasilia, 登録番号はN33701。事故機は、1988年に製造され、たったの3年しか飛行していなかった。7,229時間の飛行を行ってきた。

事故タイムライン

9時9分、事故機はラレド国際空港(Laredo International Airport)を離陸。10時3分、突然左の翼が折れて、それと同時にストールが発生。そのまま降下し、墜落した。

事故原因

事故原因は、英語でこのようにしている。

                 "The failure of Continental Express maintenance and inspection personnel to adhere to proper maintenance and quality assurance procedures for the airplane's horizontal stabilizer de-ice boots that led to the sudden in-flight loss of the partially secured left horizontal stabilizer leading edge and the immediate severe nose-down pitch over and the breakup of the airplane. Contributing to the cause of the accident was the failure of the Continental Express management to ensure compliance with the approved maintenance procedures, and the failure of FAA surveillance to detect and verify compliance with approved procedures."
