The wooden scabbard and a leather 'throat' of the scabbard all point to the Visayan origin of the antique sword.
The ferrule is made of brass and the "D" guard is made of iron.
The blade has brass inlays which apparently are anting-anting (talismanic) symbols. Many Filipino freedom fighters during the subject period believed in the powers of their anting-anting.
