"Gardiner, Me. Palmer Fountain – The Park." From a 1909 postcard. The fountain's bronze statue of Neptune (1893) was melted down in a World War II scrap metal drive. The fountain was restored in 1977, and a replacement statue added. It was abandoned sometime after 2000 and rehabilitated to its former beauty in 2016.
