On the 13th July 1934 Kate Sheppard passed away at the age of 87. Katherine Wilson Sheppard was instrumental in implementing universal suffrage in New Zealand, leading the way for the women’s suffrage movement worldwide. This photo shows a bust of Kate Sheppard that was presented to Parliament by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union as part of the 1993 Suffrage Celebrations.
