ファイル‐ノート:Oda Nobunaga-Portrait by Giovanni NIcolao.jpg
表示
I am a graduate student at Princeton University, and I thought of researching this painting after seeing it here, but I soon found that it cannot be by Niccolò as claimed, and it may not depict Nobunaga.
Niccolò arrived in Japan in 1583, one year after Nobunaga's death. No signed work by Niccolò survives, and only one work is securely attributable, a madonna and child in the Namban Bunka Kan in Osaka. Nothing in the scholarly literature on Niccolò mentions this portrait.
Does anyone know the actual source of this image? Where is the painting housed?
